My current work "Streams" is an exhibition of oil paintings, cello music, and recorded biophony and geophony near the stream. The paintings are layered observations with references to history and dream.  I composed the music in layers of playing and recording the cello in a process similar to painting.  The audio/visual aspect of this exhibition enhances synesthesia and imaginative engagement with the subject, which flows in a timeless style.  An exhibition book was published with an essay by Richard Shiff, PhD, which you may read on the "Streams" page.  The "Streams" evolved from a lifetime of landscape painting.

My 25 year mentorship with artist Willem de Kooning began in my teenage years when he saw one of my paintings and offered to be my guide.  I have been a painter all my life with a particular fascination with color.

With an innate ability to perceive color I founded a color separation company when I was in my early 20's.  As a specialist in the color separation of art for museums and galleries I became known as "The Color Doctor".  Through this work I was able to handle and examine priceless works of art, which furthered my study of painting and drawing.

For the last 35 years I have taught drawing, painting and color to students of all ages and levels of ability, with a focus on perceptual translation of form and color.  I have also assisted curators, scholars and writers in projects involving artists Willem de Kooning, John Graham, and Marsden Hartley.  In January of 2015 I was invited to participate in "Cezanne Scholars' Day" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

In January of 2015 I presented a seminar at MIT in the Dept of Civil and Environmental Engineering called "Color, Chords, and Creativity",  which described how visual art and music use universal natural structures to create hybrid forms.  And in January of 2016 I returned to MIT to teach a weeklong I.A.P  studio seminar about learning to see through drawing, painting and color.

I was represented by the Allan Stone Gallery in New York City for 15 years.  Since 2014 I have been traveling with the "Streams" exhibition, teaching, and painting.  My work is in museum, corporate, and private collections.
